Bea’s of Bloomsbury

Located in the student hub of London, Bloomsbury, you will find Bea’s of Bloomsbury. A quaint and peaceful little coffee shop, which we highly recommend. Bea’s is a relatively new Café, only opened in 2008, which uses seasonal ingredients and combines a friendly atmosphere with great tasting cakes! After a lovely walk through Russell Square Gardens on a sunny Thursday morning, we headed off in search for a spot of Kaffee and Kuchen… and that’s where we stumbled across Bea’s.

Kaffee

Obviously we were in need of a strong coffee (it was before 12pm), and our Capuccino and Latte did not disappoint! The smell of the fresh coffee beans was enough to awaken our senses, and the delicate decoration helped the drinks go down a treat!

Kuchen

We were spoilt for choice when we came here; with lots of the traditional options, along with new recipes and a combination of flavours unique to Bea’s. Magali took a Chocolate and Peanut Butter Cheesecake, whilst Sarah tried the Nutella Duffin. We can safely say that these cakes were not only delicious, but very filling!

  Atmosphere

Since we had never heard of this coffee shop before, we weren’t too sure what to expect. Upon arriving we were seated in a cosy corner of the shop with optimum scope for people watching – our favourite sport. The staff was extremely friendly and was more than happy to advise us on which cake was the best. We felt comfortable and relaxed, and best of all, service was prompt! Also, we as we sat and wrote this blog post, we were not rushed out or made to feel unwelcome – Thank you Bea’s!!

Location

The one thing that we will say is the location isn’t great. As mentioned, we had never been here before and it was hard to come by. Not near any shops or tourist locations, Bea’s is a detour from our regular journeys. Holborn itself is not very picturesque, and the business atmosphere takes away from the Kaffee and Kuchen experience we were trying to enjoy. However, it was this precise obscurity which allowed us to find a seat easily, made the place quite quiet and gave the shop an overall atmosphere of  tranquility and maturity.

 Price

For central London, we were pleasantly surprised! Our coffees were $2.60 each, and our Cakes ranged from $2 - $5. So we managed to each have a Kaffee and Kuchen for around $5! And as we said, we were more than satisfied when we’d finished! The price is very reasonable and we will definitely be returning to Bea’s!
